What are Information Technology Courses?
The Information Technology Courses are guided towards enabling educators to learn technology to use in the classroom as classes, and students, become more technologically advanced. The courses, designed for educator professional development, can also be taught at the middle school level. These technology courses enable the Montessori educator to learn as well as teach 21st century technology in schools that must modernize with the times.
For most of the courses you do not need the programs to take the courses, the exception being the Microsoft Programs.
One of the main objectives of these courses is for the educator to become competent with the programs being offered. A second objective is for the educator to learn how to use the programs. A third objective is to help educators teach their own students. Part of the design in the technology courses is for the educator to learn to use the program effectively in the first part of the course and then practice with students to facilitate their learning during the latter portions.
These courses are geared to do two things: teach the educator the program and, when possible, enable the educator to teach the program to students. In either case, using these programs to teach students or teaching students these programs enhances the Montessori educator's ability to teach in the Montessori Way. Students also learn technology that has become common place in life, school, and work. As society progresses technologically, educators should continue to keep abreast of new developments in order to keep their students up to date.
