Certification and Accreditation

Montessori Live is an innovative teacher training program for Montessori teachers all over the world.

Certification and Accreditation    Our purpose is to make Montessori training more adult-friendly, especially for those who reside long distances from a face-to-face Montessori training program. At this time, we are offering training for elementary educators working with students from 5 through 10 years of age. We also offer upper elementary level math courses that demonstrate materials using fractions, decimals, geometry, and algebra. It is necessary for participants to have a working knowledge of English. In the future, we hope to have our courses translated into other languages.

In November, we submitted our application for the accreditation of our training course to the Montessori Acreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE). The application process does not guarantee that our course of study will be approved. We will keep you apprised of our progress.

The U.S. Department of Education has recently given MACTE the approval to accredit distance education for Montessori teacher training programs. Montessori Live will be required to offer a face-to-face component at our home school, Island Village Montessori, in Venice, Florida, in order to satisfy current MACTE recommendations. At this time, the recommended length for the face-to-face component is a total of 120 clock hours or approximately three weeks at our home campus.

At this time, Argosy requires a three-day residency for students enrolled in the Montessori concentration option. The face-to-face component is not required at all for students seeking professional development credits.

For many Montessori educators, the main purpose of professional development is to be able to improve one’s ability to work with the students in our care. The tuition for our courses is fairly priced with these goals in mind. We also have a “pay as you go” system that further encourages economy for participants.

Professional development students will receive a certificate of completion summarizing the requirements for each course completed. We have posted an example of the Foundations course certificate for review. Each participant may be able to apply for professional development credits in their district and state. Montessori Live will work with each participant to verify information required by any institution regarding our courses. In foreign countries, the same information applies. Regulations and policies for each district, state, and country are different, so we cannot guarantee that our certificates will be accepted for all students. We are happy to assist as much as we can.
